MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
No experience or training is required.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have attained eighteenth birthday at time of appointment.
An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
May be required to possess a valid Louisiana driver's license at time of appointment.
May be required to complete a Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) course.
May be required to qualify annually with a firearm.
For some positions, applicant must be eligible for bond.

NOTE:This position is part of a Career Progression Group and maybe filled at the Police Officer 1-A or the Police Officer 2-A level depending on experience of the selected applicant. If filled at the Police Officer 1-A level, employee will train for one year in Police Officer 1-A and will be eligible to move to Police Officer 2-A if all qualifications and standards by the department have been met. The Police Officer 2-A minimum hiring rate is $11.57 per hour. The maximum salary for the Police Officer2-A is $54,122.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
